The 18-hole championship golf course meanders leisurely through the Steenberg vineyards, pine forests and gentle waterways. Many golfers envy the superb condition of this soft spike course and it is widely renowned for having the best greens in Cape Town. The course has an excellent mix of parkland holes with its main defences coming from the water features on several of the holes as well as the Oak tree lined Blaauwklippen River which winds its way through the golf estate and comes into play at various intervals.

Fancourt, George
There is no doubt that Fancourt is South Africa.s premier golf resort, featuring three highly rated Championship golf courses as well as the Western Cape.s premier 18-hole public course. Since opening in the early 90's with just 27 Gary Player designed holes, Fancourt.s Outeniqua and Montagu golf courses have matured and developed into two of the finest 18-hole parkland layouts in the country. The Links at Fancourt was added in 2000, an awe-inspiring example of magnificent design and golf-course construction. Lastly, Bramble Hill was added, a course that is distinctly Fancourt, yet has a friendly character all of its own. It is a course that can be tackled by beginner and seasoned golfer alike. Play is restricted to hotel residents, members and their guests, so you are unlikely to ever feel crowded on the course, however, it is always a good idea to book in advance to ensure that you get your desired tee-off time.

Pezula, Knysna
Pezula Championship Golf Course adjacent to Pezula Resort Hotel & Spa is a sweeping spectacle of fairways and greens rolling through the pristine Southern Cape landscape. The breathtaking, award-winning 18-hole course which was designed by David Dale and Ronald Fream of GolfPlan USA, rates amongst the most scenic golf courses in the world. It is a tough test of golf requiring some competence in order to fully enjoy your round. Expect some awkward lies on the sloping terrain and club selection is critical owing to the strategic design of the course amongst the fynbos vegetation

Zimbali Golf Course, north of Durban
This is another stunning 18-hole golf course that offers a challenging round of golf of world-class standards and breathtaking views. The golf course runs alongside the Indian Ocean and boasts spectacular sea views from the 14th through to the 18th hole. This adds to the scenic beauty of the course and compensates for the stiff coastal wind that sometimes blows causing the golfer the odd problem or two. Most of the tees are high on the side of hills or sand dunes. The fairways cut through the valley and the greens, seemingly always at the bottom of the next hill. This makes judging distance a time consuming task, especially for those playing this golf course for the first time.

Leopard Creek Golf Course, Kruger
Currently rated as the number one golf course in South Africa and features on the European PGA Tournament Circuit, this Gary Player designed course overlooks the famous Kruger National Park Game Reserve. The designers worked closely with nature conservation authorities, to ensure that the course blended in with the surroundings, providing a top class golfing challenge in an undisturbed pristine wildlife environment. A paradise for bird-watchers and a treat for those golfers privileged to play it, the cool shade of indigenous trees at Leopard Creek, some hundreds of years old, are home to over 200 bird species. Extensive use has been made of water features and sightings of crocodile, hippo, antelope, buffalo and wild boar are commonplace, either on the course itself or in or next to the river running alongside several holes.

Lost City Golf Course, Sun City
The Lost City Golf Course at Sun City has golfers astounded by the breathtaking beauty of this par-72 layout. The rich green fairways give a dramatic contrast to the bushveld backdrop and the barren waste bunkers are a special feature of this intriguing course. The desert style design of the golf course has an exotic allure all of its own and designer, Gary Player has acknowledged it as one of his favourite courses. The most hazardous area of the Lost City Golf Course is the 13th hole. Inhabiting the water hazard are 38 crocodiles, some of them nearly two metres long. Golfers are discouraged from retrieving their wayward balls from the croc infested pool. This unusual water hazard is just one of the features that make the Lost City Golf Course exciting and interesting to play.. but it doesn't end with the golf!
